Teak Plain Sliced, Tectona grandis

Heartwood tends to be a golden or medium brown, with color darkening with age.
Uses- Easy to work in nearly all regards, with the only caveat being that Teak contains a high level of silica (up to 1.4%) which has a pronounced blunting effect on cutting edges. Despite its natural oils, Teak usually glues and finishes well, though in some instances it may be necessary to wipe the surface of the wood with a solvent prior to gluing/finishing to reduce the natural oils on the surface of the wood.

Reclaimed Teak from the Battleship North Carolinia
USS North Carolina (BB-55) (Showboat) was the lead ship of North Carolina-class battleships and the fourth warship in the U.S. Navy to be named in honor of the State of North Carolina. She was the first newly-constructed American battleship to enter service during World War II, and she took part in every major naval offensive in the Pacific Theater of Operations to become the most highly decorated American battleship of World War II, accumulating 15 battle stars.[4] The USS North Carolina is now a museum ship and memorial kept at the seaport of Wilmington, N.C.
